Hello everyone -

My name is Scott and I came across this site after doing a search on Facebook for groups involved in Pinball on a whim.

Low and behold I went down the internet wormhole and was amazed that there are leagues and get-togethers for those who play pinball.

I loved pinball as a kid. Burned up entire nights at the roller rink playing pinball.

Fast forward a bazillion years and now I'm finding out there is a whole new pinball world out there I knew nothing about.

I live a little south of Fond du Lac and see there are get-togethers within driving distance from me. I'm looking forward to maybe checking these out.

Thanks!

Welcome!

If you're free on the afternoon of February 9th, there's a Ballers right near your town! Totally casual match play - $10 to the host for food, $10 to the pot, pinball all afternoon.

Welcome to the hobby.

Titletown pinball always has something going on and has the largest amount of games in a semi-public spot in the state.

Up in Appleton, Player 2 arcade bar has 9 or 10 newer games for only 50 cents per play. I was just there yesterday getting a few games on Stranger Things.

Lots of pinball tournaments and events can be found on the IFPA website:

Don't forget about the Midwest Gaming Classic April 3-5 in Milwaukee:

I did see there is a meetup on the 9th Epthegeek. I'm looking to see if we have anything going that day. From reading it appears some of the these leagues are at folks houses. Are they really leagues or 1 day small tournaments?

Eric_s - Thanks a ton for the links. Flipper Fridays looks like a winner at Titletownpinball :D

My folks live in Appleton, so I could check out the arcade while up there.

This all sounds like fun. Obviously I must have been living under a rock not to know this was around......

Ballers is more like a monthly social pinball hangout. There's no on-going scoring, they're just stand-alone dinner (or lunch) and some ping-pong events. Ballers doesn't do IFPA points, it's just a cash in, cash out situation. At the end of the event, top 2 or 3 get paid (depending on attendance numbers).

There's plenty of other more structured opportunities too, like the Fox Cities or Titletown leagues, if you're into that. Ballers is just kind of a nice laid back introduction, IMHO.

You should definitely check out Ballers. It is not serious in ANY fashion. The fee to play for the day is to cover food and drinks the hosts provide, and if you do want to take it serious, you can try and focus to win some money at the end of the day.

Katie and Donovan are super nice people (they are hosting this month), and their games are top notch.

Welcome to the forums. Wisconsin is a great state for pinball. Lots of people opening their doors to share the hobby.

Welcome!

I'll reiterate what others have said - Ballers is a really good first event to go to. It's very casual, Donovan and Katie are great people, and it's very close to you. Most of the other Ballers events are around the MSN or MKE area, just as an FYI.
